First time of International Students experienced Loy Krathong Festival in Thailand

Loy Krathong

Loy Krathong is a festival celebrated by the Thai people on the full moon night of the twelfth month of the Thai lunar calendar. In the modern calendrical system, this event usually occurs in the month of November, though the date varies from year to year. Regardless of the exact timing, Loy Krathong is always considered as an occasion for joy, gratitude, and new beginnings.

This year, Center for International Affairs (CIA) had invited our new international students who never experienced this event before to join the workshop and learn how to make Krathong. Our International students who joining the event are came from Zimbabwe, Timor-Leste, Somalia and Ethiopia. They learn how to decorate and the meaning of Loy Krathong with Ms. Jiraporn Kansuwan and Ms. Fareenah Jehsani, our lovely staffs of the CIA. While enjoying the workshop, they have a chance to listening to Loy Krathong songs as well. Dr. Patnarin Supakorn also join the event to encourage their learning and teach our student how to decorate krathong. After finished workshop, student have a chance to float their krathong at Larn Plearn Ta, Thaiburi building with Thai friends and enjoy the night of Loy Krathong.
