President of Walailak University is invited to visit new office of Indiana University ASEAN Gateway in Bangkok

On 26th February 2019, Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University (WU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President for Global Engagement and Faculty Development, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Acting Director of the Center for International Affairs had been invited by Professor Michael McRobbie, President of Indiana University (IU), USA to visit a new office—Indiana University ASEAN Gateway, situated in Suan Plu, Sathorn Road, Bangkok, where can be a central place to hold IU’s activities such as meeting, training and seminar and accommodate IU staff and students who come to attend some exchange programs in Southeast Asia countries.
In this occasion, the senior executives of the two universities also discussed about some possibilities in academic collaborative activities such as the Faculty Exchange Program and Mentorship Scheme for Faculty Members. The meeting went very well under a cheerful atmosphere and sincere friendship. Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Laurie McRobbie, Indiana University First Lady; Professor Hannah Buxbaum, VP for International Affairs; Mr. Shawn Reynolds, Associate VP for International Affairs; Mr. Peter Boonjarean, Director of ASEAN Gateway; Mr. Ryan Piurek, Assistant VP Presidential Communications, and Special Projects.
