Walailak University Announced by Advance Higher Education (Advance HE) as a Success of the CLTHE and Fellowship Program

Advance Higher Education (Advance HE) is announcing a testimony to the success of Walailak University, upon completing the Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (CLTHE), in advancing teaching and learning, and enhancing quality teaching practices and professionalism reflected by the university’s dynamic of teaching culture, improved dropout rates from 30 percent to less than 2 percent in 2020 and outstanding numbers of Advance HE Fellow.
Cooperation between Advance HE and Walailak University has been in place since 2018 to improve teaching quality which evolves in synch with challenges faced in the pandemic era. The program complies with the Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in HE (PSF) and upon the program’s completion, participants are encouraged to apply for Fellowship. More details: https://www.wu.ac.th/en/news/21004/

Akkhraratchakumari Veterinary College (AVC), Walailak University, as the one and only university in Thailand that offers an international program in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), welcomes international students from across the world. Consistent with its mission, the college aims to equip students with both academic rigor and skills in interactions with international communities.

Serendipity and Ultra-High Data Storage Capacity with Assoc. Prof. Dr. David Harding

Winner of The Outstanding Reviewer of the Year Award for Dalton Transactions in 2020 and the New Talent Asia Pacific Award, Assoc. Prof. Dr. David Harding, of the School of Science specializes in inorganic chemistry, a branch of chemistry. He is also an advisory board member for CrystEngComm published by the Royal Society of Chemistry and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the journal ChemistrySelect published by Chemistry Europe, an honor offered to few scientists in Thailand. From Reduction of Space in Iron to Black Pixel in Fonts by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanongsak Imjai

If the space in iron could be reduced economizing on construction’s fixed cost, the same logic should apply to that of Black pixel in a font design to reduce printing ink used. Inspired by this concept, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanongsak Imjai, Director of the Innovation and Research Institute (IRI) and structural engineer specializing in construction innovation together with Dr. Chirawat Wattanapanich, Deputy director of the Innovation and Research Institute (IRI) and Lecturer of School of Engineering, Walailak University collaborated on a redesign and a restructure of the font most frequently used in Thailand’s government agencies. More details: https://www.wu.ac.th/en/news/20935/

More like a Sci-fi movie “Traveling Through and Beyond the Wormholes with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phongpichit Channuie, One of Thailand’s cosmologists

 “Have you ever watched that sci-fi movie, Interstellar? It exemplifies traveling through the galaxy using a wormhole, a super shortcut tunnel. Kip Thorne, an American theoretical and a Nobel Prize-winning physicist is in the movie’s production team.”
   Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phongpichit Channuie, Walailak University Lecturer, Dean of College of Graduate Studies and one of Thailand’s very few cosmologists specializing in physics beyond the standard model, cosmic Inflation and its verifiable consequences and modified theories of gravity simplified what his field expertise is about using the sentences above. Walailak University Teaming up with Sichon Hospital Promoting Quality Medical Education

On February 11th, 2022, Walailak University and Sichon Hospital agreed to coordinate an international medical residency project through a formal 5-year memorandum of understanding (MOU). The MOU signing ceremony, organized by the Center for International Affairs (CIA), was presided over by Walailak President Sombat Thamrongthanyawong and Sichon Director Arak Wongvorachat, witnessed by Sichon Hospital executives (Dr. Ekarat Janwanpen, Deputy Director of Sichon Hospital, Ms. Narumon Kanklod, Administrative Officer of the hospital) and Walailak University faculty members (Vice President Charun Boonyakan, Vice President Surin Maisrikrod, CIA Acting Director Patnarin Supakorn, Walailak University Hospital Acting Director Udomsak Saengow, School of Public Health Dean Warit Jawjit, Associate Professor Dr. Chuchat Phansawat, and other distinguished faculty members from WU health sciences schools.  More details:

Asst. Prof. Dr. Udomsak Saengow, M.D, Appointed a University Liaison by Thailand One Health University Network National Coordinating Office (THOHUN-NCO)

Asst.Prof.Dr. Udomsak Saengow, M.D, Director of the Research Institute for Health Sciences, Walailak University, represents Walailak University as a university liaison in the Thailand One Health University Network National Coordinating Office (THOHUN-NCO). The Thailand One Health University Network or THOHUN is a Thailand-based network operating with respect to the globally recognized One Health concept under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Saengduen Moonsom, Lecturer of Department of Protozoology, Mahidol University. Currently, universities across Thailand have joined the network   Funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), THOHUN – under the Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN)- strives to prevent the immerging and re-immerging diseases in Thailand through national and international collaborations of the network partners with respect to the One Health concept. Walailak University Research Team led by Assoc. prof. Dr. Nirundorn Matan won two NRCT’s national Invention Awards 2021-2022

Assoc. prof. Dr. Nirundorn Matan, Lecturer of School of Engineering and Technologies, Walailak University, received two national research awards in category Invention Award for Fiscal year 2022, on a Good Level. The awards were presented by Prof. Dr. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation in celebration of the 23rdThailand Inventor Day 2021-2022 organized by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) on 2 February 2022 to honor Thai researchers outstandingly and nationally contributing to the field at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangkok.
