Walailak University Strengthens International Academic Networks through Diplomatic Engagements

On 16 September 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Assistant to the President and Director of the Center for International Affairs, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bangkok to discuss potential pathways for academic collaboration and future student exchanges. She was warmly welcomed by Mr. Errachid Alaoui Mrani, Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, and Ms. Hanifa El Kadiri Boutchich, Counsellor of the Moroccan Embassy in Thailand.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged information on Walailak University’s mission, strengths, and international development strategies, including its international study programs and Semester Exchange initiatives. Dr. Patnarin presented in-depth details about the university’s international curricula, teaching structures designed to attract international students, and ongoing academic exchange activities. In addition, she provided digital brochures and promotional materials on the Semester Exchange Program for the Embassy’s reference and future dissemination.
On the same occasion, Dr. Patnarin also visited the Consulate of the Republic of Ghana, where she met with consular representatives to explore opportunities for academic collaboration between Walailak University and government as well as educational institutions in Ghana. Key areas of discussion included broadening pathways for international student recruitment, fostering joint research opportunities, and assessing the feasibility of launching exchange or short-term training programs tailored to the needs of both countries.
During the meeting, Walailak University emphasized its academic strengths, including a highly qualified faculty, internationally compatible curricula, state-of-the-art facilities, and priority areas of international cooperation. The Ghanaian Consulate responded positively, expressing readiness to act as a bridge between Walailak University and relevant institutions and agencies in Ghana.
These diplomatic engagements mark a significant step for Walailak University in expanding its international collaboration networks. The outcomes will directly contribute to enhancing the quality of education, promoting joint research, and welcoming more international students. Moreover, the visits foster stronger mutual understanding between diplomatic missions and Thai higher education institutions, reinforcing the role of education and culture as vital drivers of international cooperation.
