TUIT, UZ

The Center for International Affairs (CIA) at Walailak University officially launched a 10-day summer exchange program for students from Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT), Uzbekistan. Running from April 14–23, 2026, the program hosts 11 participants (10 students and 1 staff member) focusing on academic excellence in engineering, informatics, and cross-cultural immersion.

The program is a collaborative effort involving the School of Engineering and Technology, the School of Informatics, and the School of Management. Key objectives include:

  • Enhancing specialized knowledge in Engineering and IT.
  • Strengthening academic ties between Walailak University and TUIT.
  • Promoting global citizenship and exposure to Thai community life.

On April 16, Assistant Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Director of CIA, delivered welcome remarks during the official orientation. A highlight of the morning was a presentation by the College of Graduate Studies, which introduced international master’s and doctoral programs taught in English to encourage TUIT students to consider future advanced studies at Walailak.

The curriculum is designed around sustainability and modern technology:

  • Green Engineering: Students are engaging in workshops on carbon footprint calculation, utilizing Python to track environmental impacts, and visiting the university’s Solar Floating System.
  • Smart Informatics: Upcoming sessions include Agentic AI for green campuses and LiDAR technology demonstrations led by the School of Informatics.
  • Cultural Exploration: Participants have already toured the WU Botanic Park and explored the scenic Khao Phlai Dam in Sichon. The group also visited the Phrom Lok Waterfall to experience the natural beauty of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

This exchange marks a significant step in the university’s internationalization strategy. Following this program, Walailak University plans to send 12 Thai students (6 from the School of Engineering and 6 from the School of Informatics) to TUIT in Uzbekistan later this year, solidifying a sustainable Bilateral Exchange partnership.
