Walailak University Strengthens Global Ties with St. Petersburg State University through Cultural and Innovation Exchange

Walailak University, through the Center for International Affairs (CIA), recently hosted a delegation of 10 students and staff from St. Petersburg State University, Russia, during their visit from April 14–18, 2026. The program aimed to showcase the university’s potential as a “Smart University” and foster sustainable bilateral relations.
On April 15, the delegation participated in a Campus Tour, visiting the Walailak University Botanic Park and the Natural History Museum, which serve as world-class learning resources. This was followed by a cultural excursion to Khao Phlai Dam in Sichon District to introduce the visitors to the natural beauty and local lifestyle of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The exchange continued from April 16–17 with multi-departmental collaboration:
- Innovation & Conservation: In partnership with the Center of Academic Service (CAS), the delegation visited the Blue Swimming Crab Bank to learn about local marine conservation and innovative sustainability practices.
- Cultural Immersion: The School of Liberal Arts (SLA) organized a Natural Tie-Dye Workshop at Kiriwong Village and a “Survival Thai” language session to share the unique identity and cultural heritage of the region.
This visit is a key component of Walailak University’s internationalization strategy. Notably, the School of Liberal Arts has already sent Thai students to St. Petersburg as part of this Bilateral Exchange program in fiscal year 2026.
By expanding collaboration across various schools, Walailak University continues to push toward concrete internationalization, creating lasting academic and cultural bonds on a global scale.
