20 August 2026, the Center for International Affairs (CIA), Walailak University, welcomed a delegation from the Taiwan-Thailand Science and Technology Center (TTSTC) under National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. The visit aimed to discuss opportunities for developing research, science, technology, and innovation collaboration between Walailak University and TTSTC’s partner networks in Taiwan.

The TTSTC delegation was led by Chair Professor Fong-Chin Su, Executive Director of TTSTC, NCKU, accompanied by Ms. Hsiu-An (Mirabell) Chien and Ms. Wei-Chun (June) Hsu, Project Managers from TTSTC, NCKU.

During the visit, both sides engaged in discussions to lay the foundation for long-term collaboration, with a particular focus on strengthening networks among researchers and academic staff and promoting opportunities for joint research initiatives between Thailand and Taiwan. Key areas of potential collaboration included the development of joint research projects, faculty and researcher exchanges, and the organization of joint seminars, workshops, and academic conferences. Student exchanges between the two institutions were also identified as another important area for future collaboration.

The discussions demonstrated promising prospects for translating the initial dialogue into tangible cooperation in research and innovation. In particular, the potential to connect Walailak University’s researchers and experts with Taiwan’s extensive science and technology networks could create new opportunities for collaborative research projects and academic activities. Future collaboration may also include academic seminars and workshops, as well as student and staff exchanges, further strengthening academic and research connections between the two sides.

The visit is expected to serve as an important starting point for expanding Walailak University’s international research network and creating new opportunities for collaboration with Taiwanese institutions and research networks. Such partnerships will contribute to enhancing the university’s research capacity, encouraging knowledge exchange, and supporting the development of innovative research initiatives with international partners. Through continued dialogue and follow-up activities, both sides have the potential to establish sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation in research, science, technology, and innovation.
