The Centre for International Affairs (CIA) hosted an important gathering between the distinguished delegations from Walailak University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore on March 7th, 2024, marking the beginning of a new phase of cooperation and communication. In the solemn atmosphere of the Choor Pradu Meeting Room, Walailak University President Prof. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong warmly met the IIT Indore delegation, which was led by the esteemed Prof. Suhas S. Joshi. In his introductory speech, Prof. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong echoed the idea of improved collaboration between the organizations, highlighting the value of global alliances in promoting possibilities, shared experiences, and reciprocal development.

Prof. Suhas S. Joshi and his esteemed team—which included notables such as Prof. Avinash Sonawane (Dean of International Relations), Prof. Sandeep Chaudhary (Dean of Administration), Prof. Shanmugam Dhinkaran (Head of Mechanical Engineering Department), Prof. Vivek Kanhangad (Head of Electrical Engineering Department), Prof. Shaibal Mukherjee (IIT Indore’s Head of Hybrid Nanodevice Research Group), Prof. Preeti A. Bhobe (Head of Physics Department) and Dr. Ranveer Singh (Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department)—engaged with colleagues from Walailak University’s School of Science, represented by Dr. Tanachat Eknapakul, and the School of Engineering and Technology, under the direction of Asst. Prof. Dr. Monthian Setkit. The topics of conversation covered included research projects, academic programmes, and exploring opportunities for joint partnerships including student exchanges and information sharing programmes. Stressing compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the two sides discussed how to take advantage of this auspicious occasion to promote the best possible education, reflecting the hopes of people everywhere for a better future.

The culmination of the meeting saw expressions of gratitude from the Center for International Affairs to all attendees, acknowledging their active engagement in fortifying the foundation of partnership between these esteemed institutions. As the day drew to a close, it marked not just a momentous occasion, but a promising beginning towards a future brimming with innovation, camaraderie, and academic excellence.
