CIA host a meeting between Cambodia- GIZ and School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University

On May 3rd, 2022 The Center for International Affairs (CIA), Walailak University organized a collaborative discussion between the Cambodia-GIZ team and the School of Allied Health Science promote health professional education. 

Mr. Votanak Soksereivotanak, ex-director of laboratory sciences and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Biotechnology, the University of Puthisastra (UP), Cambodia who is currently started work with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit or GIZ, a German organization, proposed to select Walailak University – School of Allied Health Science to be a future training program in health science to students and staff from Cambodia. 

The discussion today on May 3rd, 2022 aims to explore Walailak University in term of facilities, medical education, medical technology, hospital, teaching and learning and other facilities in preparation for the training program under GIZ fund.  The GIZ project has two priority areas; the first part will focus on strengthening competency based teaching and learning capacity in selected health training institutions. The second part aims to improve the governance of health professional education in Cambodia. The Cambodia team had considered that Walailak University, in Thailand has all potential to serve its mission, therefore the face to face meeting is very important. 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jitbanjong Tangpong, Dean of School of Allied Health Science strongly committed that her school is well equipped  with a high quality of lecturers who are mostly certified by the United Kingdom Profession Standard  Framework or UKPSF, the school provide modern laboratories for both teaching and research. The university students gained experience in both hospital and community practice. The internship program framework at Walailak University will enhance the students in their future profession. We are confident that Walailak University can be a high quality training center. Moreover the university has its own smart hospital and has a good relationship with affiliate hospitals to send the students for practice.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Acting Director of Center for International Affairs (CIA), Walailak University stated that the university is looking forward to support our friend from ASEAN country. We are very pleased to welcome the team from Cambodia to visit Walailak University in late June 2022 and will facilitate the visit in order to achieve GIZ mission together.
