International Food Festival

On Thursday, January 25, 2024, Center for International Affairs in collaboration with international staff and students organized International Food Festival activity at the Bota Market of WU Botanical Park. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University presided over the food festival event to give welcoming and opening speech. Also present at the event were Associate Professor Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice-President and Assistant Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Director of the Center for International Affairs Center to welcome and taste international foods prepared by WU international staff and students. There were over 60 staff and students attended the food festival.
Over 14 international cuisines were presented with various kind of foods and beverage from 11 countries prepared by WU international staff and students from Bangladesh, Somalia, Uganda, Pakistan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Vietnam, Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka, and China. The highlight of this activity was tasting international food and learning international recipes from various countries. The participants could make some tips to each international food booth to encourage the food preparers to be more involved in university future activities. The event was featured by special activities from WU Nursing students “Thai Folk Games” and “Trying out Traditional Thai Costume”. The festival participants were pleased and fun by these special features. The event provided a platform for both Thai and international staff and students to have social gathering, chitchatting, and exchanging multicultural cultures of various countries including Thai.
