Times Higher Education Asia University Summit 2021

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President for Global Engagement and Faculty Development and Assoc. Prof. Dr. David J. Harding, Deputy Director of the Center for International Affairs, Walailak University attended in THE Asia University Summit from 1st – 3rd June 2021.

The summit focused on universities in Asia and the summit included a live reveal of the latest THE Asia University rankings. Walailak University was participating for the first time in the summit and was able to learn from higher education and industry experts who spoke on subjects as diverse as the ‘What is the future of the Asian university?’ and ‘Developing a tech talent pipeline in Asia’. The impact of Covid on higher education and the opportunities and challenges it has created were an important theme throughout the summit.

The summit reinforced the need of the university to create higher quality research output, move to more immersive online teaching and create a platform for lifelong learning that allows the university to partner with their students throughout the diverse career paths they will take in an ever changing world.
