Visit by President of Okayama University of Science


On 29th November 2016, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Global Engagement of Walailak University (WU) , joined by his Deans, Directors of Centres of Excellence and members of International Affairs Office (Inter Affairs Walailak) warmly welcomed distinguished delegations from Okayama University of Science (OUS) led by its President Prof. Dr. Yasunobu Yanagisawa who was also joined by his Vice-President, Dean and senior executives. Other distinguished guests present at this memorable meeting included NST Governor’s representative, President of NST Chamber of Commerce and Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of NST Industries On behalf of the President Prof. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Ph.D, the Vice-President praised a strong relationship between WU and OUS, which was started from the School of Agricultural Technology. Dr. Surin also shared with audiences President Sombat’s vision to transform WU into the World Class University by integrating innovation into teaching & learning, enhancing student’s professional skill development especially English language proficiency and establishing an International College in order to attract students and faculty staff from oversea. As the meeting went on, every audience witnessed a constructive academic and research knowledge exchange between the two universities, as representatives from both sides took turn to give presentations. On 30th November 2016, OUS delegates were took on a tour around WU’s Campus and to state-of-the-art laboratories at the Innovation Building. Visited laboratories were Functional Materials & Nanotechnology Center of Excellence-funtech led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Phimphaka Harding, Plasma and Microwave Technology for Agricultural Research Laboratory led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mudtorlep Nisoa and Research Center of Excellence on Shrimp led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sataporn Direkbusarakom.
