The Center for International Affairs (CIA) at Walailak University successfully hosted the International Student Orientation Program for Semester 1/2026 at the CIA Meeting Room, Cooperative Education Building. The event aimed to prepare and welcome the new global cohort as they officially embark on their academic journey at WU.

This semester, the campus vibrates with cultural diversity as WU welcomes new faces from Vietnam, Pakistan, Ghana, Russia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand. To foster immediate connections and support, the new students were paired with local peers through the WU Student Buddy Program, sparking early friendships and cross-cultural camaraderie.

The orientation offered crucial insights to ensure a smooth transition into both academic life and Thai society. Key sessions included:

• Cultural Orientation: Guidance on Thai culture, local customs, “Do’s and Don’ts”, and religious practices.

• Essential Services: Crucial information regarding health insurance and healthcare access.

• Visa & Immigration Support: In-depth guidance on visa matters, immigration services, and the extension process specifically tailored for international students to ensure their legal stay is hassle-free.

The event was warmly opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Director of the Center for International Affairs, who offered inspiring welcoming remarks to the incoming class.

In the afternoon, the energy shifted outdoors. The WU Student Buddies led the newcomers on an extensive WU Campus Tour to familiarize them with their new home. This was followed by an exciting Nakhon Si Thammarat City Tour & Sightseeing, where international students immersed themselves in the rich history, vibrant culture, and local landmarks of the province.
