Walailak University Welcomes Executives from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ), Indonesia.
Walailak University Vice President Associate Professor Dr. Voravuth Somsak welcomed the executives from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ), Indonesia: Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Vice-Rector for Students and Cooperation Affairs, and administration team on 7 December 2022.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss and expand cooperation between Walailak University and UPNVJ, and to open Indonesian Corner at the Center for Library Resources and Educational Media at Walailak University.
Vice President Voravuth said: “Today’s establishment of Indonesian corner between two great universities shows to the world a good team who willingly intends to work side by side to secure our mutual academic and research victories”.
In December 2021, Walailak University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UPNVJ. And the two universities have been working together to promote collaborations in many areas such as student and staff mobility, joint research, and cultural exchange.
“We hope our collaboration between Walailak University and UPNVJ will grow exponentially in the years to come,” said Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Vice-Rector for Students and Cooperation Affairs, UVNPJ.
This visit has expanded cooperation between UPNVJ and Walailak University’s four schools namely School of Public Health, School of Nursing, School of Agricultural and Technology, and School of Accountancy and Finance to six schools including School of Medicine and School of Engineering.
Furthermore, the cooperation has carried out many incredible projects and activities such as a summer exchange program for UPNVJ students held by the School of Accounting and Finance and the Center for International Affairs, Walailak University, to promote cultural and language exchange; a summer course for WU students offered by Faculty of Economics and Business, UPNVJ, to promote cross-campus teaching and abroad learning activities; and the exchange of guest lecturers.
Vice President Voravuth also briefed the UVNPJ executives about the university’s success such as being ranked by Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2023 at 1501+; High scoring in SDG 14 Life Below Water, SDG 2 Zero Hunger, and SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production by THE Impact Rankings 2022, and Walailak University Hospital which is now open for both inpatients and outpatients.
“We would be more than happy to share our lecturers, research specialists, and laboratories with you as a brother and sister university, to enhance our academic property,” Vice President Voravuth added.
At the end of the opening ceremony, the two parties attended the photo group session and exchanged tokens of appreciation. The Indonesian Corner will be established at the Center for Library Resources at Walailak University, to be a source for students and the public to learn about many aspects of Indonesia.
